About canig.com

This website started at the end of 2010, early 2011 out of a need to document the various methods of removal of information from (primarily) Google's index.

People sometimes make mistakes and private or embarrassing information ends up indexed in Google (and other search engines, but here we only deal with Google).

Sometimes web pages of obsolete content remain indexed in Google.

In any case there are many circumstances when one needs to clean up this type of information as quickly as possible.

This site tries to help in understanding what needs to be done and what can be done.

The website was created by a British web developer going by the nickname of squibble, whom I met in the Google Webmaster Central Help Forum. After a few years this person approached me and asked whether I was interested in taking it over, lock stock and barrel. I did.

And here I am, a few years later at the start of 2017, when I have finally had the time to update it, re-organize it and convert it to a responsive design (while keeping the original design pretty much intact).

Because this is squibble's brainchild, this name will always remain on the web site.
